CAMLIGHT USED FOUND EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE. 

Narrative     
AT 1845 HRS ON 26 NOV POLICE ARRIVED AT STAFFORD MRT BASECAMP AS FIRST PARTIES WERE RETURNING FROM MOUNTAINEERING EXERCISE AND ASKED TEAM TO ASSIST IN CLIFF SEARCH FOR MR W B STONE AND DAUGHTER VICTORIA AGED 6 OF UPPER HELPING MIRFIELD YORKSHIRE, SUBJECTS HAD BEEN WALKING ON HELVELLYN IN A TWO FAMILY PARTY OF 4 ADULTS AND 4 CHILDREN AGED BETWEEN 6 AND 9 YEARS WHEN MR STONE APPARENTLY SLIPPED ON FROZEN SNOW SURFACE AND SLID OVER EDGE OF 500 FT ROCK AND ICE FACE PULLING HIS DAUGHTER VICTORIA, MR GALLOWAY THE OTHER ADULT MALE IN THE PARTY COULD NOT GIVE POSITIVE LOCATION OF INCIDENT WHEN QUESTIONED BY POLICE, FROM THE SUMMIT PLATEAU STEEP CLIFFS FALL INTO 3 SEPARATE HIGH VALLEYS ON THE EAST AND ONE ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. FIRST RAF STAFFORD PARTY OF 9 WERE ALLOCATED A CLIFF ACROSS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. AT 1915 HRS, REMAINDER OF RAF STAFFORD MRT RETURNED FROM EXERCISE AND REPORTED TO POLICE HQ, TO FIND THAT A SEPARATE INCIDENT HAD BEEN REPORTED 
ON GREAT GABLE (SEPARATE REPORT).  8 MEMBERS OF STAFFORD TEAM WERE SENT TO GREAT GABLE AND THE REMAINING 5 WERE ASKED 10 SEARCH THE WEST CLIFFS OF HELVELLYN FOR MR STONE AND DAUGHTER, TEAM MEMBERS SEARCHED ON AND BELOW CLIFFS IN RESPECTIVE AREAS UNTIL 0300 HRS. ON 27 NOV. A DECISION WAS MADE TO ALLOW TEAM TO SLEEP AND RESUME SEARCH IN NEW AREA AT 0800 HRS ON SUNDAY. BEFORE RETURNING TO BASE CAMP CHF TECH CRAIG ADVISED CONTROLLERS TO ARRANGE FOR MR GALLOWAY TO FLY IN S & R HELICOPTER OVER MOUNTAIN AREA TO PINPOINT INCIDENT LOCATION, THIS WAS DONE AND PROVED SUCCESSFUL, MR GALLOWAY RECOGNISED LOCATION, S & R HELICOPTER THEN SEARCHED BELOW CLIFF AND LOCATED BODIES WHICH WERE SUBSEQUENTLY REMOVED TO PENRITH, THIS INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED BY STAFFORD MRT AS THEY WERE PREPARING TO RESUME SEARCH.
