Narrative

At 0130 the team leader was alerted by Gwynedd Police HQ to assist in the search for a missing climber/walker-Mr Dimond, Age 39 of Stockport Rd, Timperley, Cheshire. At first light VMRT and Ogwen MRO started a sweep/party search of all likely areas and crags in the district this was curtailed at dusk. On the following day Tuesday, again at first light a detailed sweep of the complete Glyder Range revealed nothing. On Wednesday, the same was completed on the Carneddau range. When this bought in negative results, the Police and team leaders decided to call off the official teams as everything reasonably possible had been tried. Ad hoc searches continued thereafter.

This was the largest search ever mounted in North Wales, with over 550 bona fide rescuers used on the search on Wednesday.
