Mountain Memories – Pinnacle Ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean, 30 June 1964

This is one of the classic routes on Skye and one I found really enjoyable. It’s not too difficult which is probably why it’s enjoyable. It was also a nice day and not too busy. The pinnacles get pointier as you ascend, with the drops between them getting progressively bigger. Some folks abseil into the gaps, but we just climbed down to avoid a party phaffing around. I can remember the final climb up onto the tiny summit of Gillian from the gap between it and Knight’s Peak as being quite pleasant and a wee bit airy. A thoroughly enjoyable route, I think I did it with Wee Mac.
